This year we have made a little twist to the Early Human lesson and it was well worth it. Children are studying Early Humans in their home-classroom so we came up with this wonder!

Grade 3 are studying Early Humans in their home classroom so we got into their lesson and we tried to recreate how Early Humans made their artwork. We used soft pastel on a brown paper that we scrunched it up beforehand so it got a very interesting texture. After the scrunching they gave it a very light layer of soft pastel so it looked and felt like a cave wall.
Our third graders have been studying about early humans in their classroom, so we came up with some cave art! Some of the students made their artwork under their tables with the paper sticked to the table, so they have a feeling of what is to paint in a cave or not in the best position as the early humans did. Enjoy the artwork!
Vincent Vang Gogh one of the biggest artists of all time. There are many art lessons about him. Sunflowers, Starry Night, Selfportrait, etc... We made the Sunflowers with the Grades 3 but with a little twist, guess which one?
We used soft pastel and oil pastel for outlines. Soft pastel is one of my personal favourite techniques. Our fifth and sixth graders learned in depth about the the great Salvador Dalí. We saw his artwork, read about him, watch some videos of himself at work, interviews, etc... They absolutely loved him. It is great to somehow see the artist in action, to give him a face and especially Dalí...
We have been discussing with our first graders about what is Still Life. After lively discussion, a fruit set up was displayed. We put two big tables together and I set up a beautiful, fresh and yummy bunch of fruits in the middle. The whole classroom is around the tables which gives to each student a different view. This time we used soft pastels.
Second graders are talking in their classroom about Africa and its life. We came up with this project, using glue for drawing and soft pastel for colouring.
