We are just having a recycling competition! Sort of exciting seeing everybody collecting papers, bottles, plastic, bottle tops... as much as they can! So the one that collects the most gets this beauty made of bottle tops and gold sprayed!!!!!

Our third graders have been studying about early humans in their classroom, so we came up with some cave art! Some of the students made their artwork under their tables with the paper sticked to the table, so they have a feeling of what is to paint in a cave or not in the best position as the early humans did. Enjoy the artwork!
We always try different ways to make art in the art room. We recently started to use iPads and we ended up creating these wonders.
Talking about lines with the youngest. We read the book Little Green as an introduction of the lesson, which was perfect. After the book we talk about the lines world. It was so fun because they come up with some unique names for the lines like "Great Wall line' or "Elephant line" . Some of the finished works remind me somehow to some works of Joan Miró. We used some recycled KD board, foam, to make these radial printings. No we are going to work some Linocut, so many options when it comes to printing! We used as a carving tool just a pencil. You can use oil based paint or acrylic. The oil based one works great but it is quite messy and smelly. it is a bit hard to get it off your hands and forget about your clothes. First lesson they design and carve. Second lesson was the proper printing action
There are loads of ways of making the colour wheel fun. Depending on age / grade you can make it more or less difficult. In previous posts you can see how we made some basic primary and secondary colour wheel umbrellas. Here we take it one step further. Besides of talking about primary, secondary and tertiary colours we add the close-up of a beautiful eye.
We just talked about the colour wheel with the youngest of the school, Reception. We basically talked about the basic colour wheel, Primary and Secondary colours and we ended up making these wonderful umbrellas. I also uploaded the model that we used for them to paint. We made one and then created a stencil to speed up a bit the proccess.
