We are using post-it notes to create this art work. The students first designed their work on a paper and then make it real! Can you guess what is coming?

This year we have made a little twist to the Early Human lesson and it was well worth it. Children are studying Early Humans in their home-classroom so we came up with this wonder! Our grades 4 just started to empty the recycling paper bins and to classify the paper in different categories for the recycling process. We all got very surprised with the unnecessary amount of paper that we use on a daily basis. We have so much work to do! This year, get ready for some paper recycling madness in the art room! We're on a mission to recycle every last scrap of paper we create. Once we've nailed down the technique, worked out all the logistics, and basically become recycling wizards, we're setting our sights on recycling ALL the school's scrap paper. It's about time we make the world a little greener! 🌍♻️ Grades 3 did some beautiful paper folding work. We talked about the art of origami as an introduction. We recycled all the paper we found around school, whole project is 100% recycled. After 2 lessons they came up with this is the wonderful result.
Paper weaving is a simple technique that can create a magnificent result, also it is great for fine motor skills. On this project Marcus weaved the paper and turned into this beautiful house (yes, those are cementery stones and a bat flying around)
Again the great Eric Carle. We made a painted paper lesson, it is such a fun technique, messy but fun. We first read the story, then we made the background paper and the polar bear paper. We used sponges, it is a very effective and fast technique and students love it so much. We limited the amount of colours to choose for the background to only 2.
Second day we trace the parts of the polar bear (stencils previously made) on the back side of the white painted paper, cut them and glue them to the background. Picture Alex holding his master piece Henri Matisse inspired all of our 3rd Graders to create a fantastic piece of art work. Matisse was a great painter during his entire life but when Henri was old he made cutout pictures. Since he was sick so often he had to spend lots of time in bed. It was easier to cut out pictures than use a paint brush! We used the same collage technique that he used; He liked to create images with organic shape cut-outs, just like we have done! Here you can see Henri's (not the Matisse one) creation. If you scan the QR code you will get a wonderful explanation of what is this piece of art about.
We made a very simple but effective project with our second graders in the paper unit. Basically we just need 12 paper strips, the more colourful the better, glue stick and good paper folding skills. |
