I read the other day about how a group of art lovers recreated George Seurat’s famous painting called “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte”. Georges Seurat’s 1884 painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” has remained a favorite for art lovers since its creation. This masterpiece of pointillism shows a group of Parisians enjoying an afternoon on the River Seine, an excellent way to celebrate a riverfront! The idea all started with a local photographer who scouted the area in order to find the perfect setting for recreating this modern version of Seurat. The organizers wanted to keep things modern. All participants are wearing contemporary clothes with umbrellas substituted in for the 19th-century parasols. So here you can see the final result, what do you think? Pretty cool right? It might look something easy to make but it is not, just think about every single detail, look at the dog for example or the boat by the lake... Do you think you could have done it better? This is going to be this week’s challenge. I want you to find a piece of art and recreate it in real life. Once you finished you have to send me two pictures one with the original artwork and another one with the recreation. It is very important for you to take a good quality picture of the final recreation. You can choose any artwork from any artist, it doesn’t have to be necessarily a master piece from a very famous artist. It could be indoors, outdoors, figurative (with people in it), without people. I would suggest something realistic (If you choose an abstract piece of art it might be hard to recreate although if you find a way to do it I would be very happy to see it), you could also get dressed up, just BE CREATIVE! This is going to be this week’s assignment. We need at least 2 recreations from two different artworks. If you want, you can make a 3rd recreation, but that is optional. Here I give you some suggestions for you to get some inspiration. Enjoy!
